How does the app connect to Apple Health?

Clockology Faces has a tight integration with the Apple Health app. When opening a watch face containing health data for the first time, you will be prompted to grant access to Apple Health permissions. Watch faces can display the following types of data in complications:

  • Heart Rate
  • Daily Step Count

  • Flights Climbed
  • Active Energy Burned
  • Exercise Time
  • Daily Stand Count

We do not capture or send your data outside of your devices, and query only in small time frames to be able to summarize personalized activity on Clockology Faces complications on your Apple Watch.

Usage Questions

Does Clockology Faces work with the Always On Display?

Yes! To enable the Always On setting on your Apple Watch:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Go to Display & Brightness > Always On
  3. Toggle on the Always On setting

Note: These settings are available for the Apple Watch Series 5 and later.

  1. Open the Settings app on your Apple Watch.
  2. Go to Display & Brightness > Always On > Show Complication Data
  3. Make sure Show Complication Data is toggled on

Will Clockology Faces drain my battery?

No, we have run extensive battery tests, and Clockology Faces uses a relatively small footprint. Your battery should not use any more power with Clockology Faces than running the stock Apple Watch complications.

Why are health stats/weather not displaying properly, displaying dashes, or showing -1?

The watchOS operating system updates complications at intervals throughout the day in order to maximize battery power. If you are not seeing the most recent data or your complications are showing placeholders, please be patient. Your Apple Watch will synchronize your complications shortly.

Clockology needs permissions to access your location for weather and your activity for health data.  Please double check Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Clockology Faces and Settings > Health > Clockology and verify Clockology Faces is allowed to read this data. If these settings are not showing under Privacy please delete and reinstall Clockology Faces and you should be prompted to give access again.

Also, please verify you do not have another application blocking the connection. IE: VPN. Try disabling your VPN to test.

How do I change the black background of the Apple Watch face?

Because of Apple’s limitations on customization, currently you can only customize the background within the border of complications. The remaining black space around the outside of the complications will remain black as per Apple’s guidelines.

To change the background graphic inside of any complication, tap any complication to select it. Tap the + to add a new image layer. Choose any image, and add more layers above your background layer.

Will complications update with Do Not Disturb turned on?

No, unfortunately complications do not update when Do Not Disturb is turned on.

When I disable Complication Tinting, how come my objects only show up white on the Apple Watch?

At this time, white is the only color choice when disabling Complication Tinting (and using the color selector on your Apple Watch to change the face color). Apple limits complication tinting to 1 color and white for everything else. Pro Tip: You can adjust the alpha setting in the layer options to create shades of white on your Apple Watch.

How do I share Apple .watchface files with other people?

The optimal way to share your Apple .watchface files is via your Apple Watch:

  1. On your Apple Watch screen, long press on the watch face you’d like to share
  2. Tap the share icon to send your .watchface file via SMS or Mail
  3. Select a contact to share your watch face with, and tap Send

All of the custom complications and layers will be saved inside of the .watchface files you share using your Apple Watch. Sharing .watchface files via your iPhone’s “Watch” app is not recommended and may cause loading issues upon sharing.
